Golden State Warriors sign Moses Moody to long-term contract extension

The Golden State Warriors and Moses Moody have agreed to a three-year contract extension ahead of schedule. Meanwhile, another young star is still waiting for a new contract.

Shortly before the start of the new NBA season, the Golden State Warriors and Moses Moody have agreed on a new three-year contract. This will earn the guard a total of around $39 million, as ESPN reporter Shams Charania has learned from consultant Rich Paul.

The American was selected by the Golden State Warriors in the 14th spot in the 2021 NBA draft. In his first two years in the league, however, the guard revealed problems, especially offensively. Last season, Moody then made a leap from 4.8 to 8.1 points per game for the first time.

In the NBA preseason, Moody continued to impress. In six games, the 22-year-old averaged 15.5 points on 39.4 percent shooting from three.

The new deal is considered team-friendly and binds Moody to the team from San Francisco up to and including the 2027/28 season.

However, teammate Jonathan Kuminga is still without a contract. Both players were drafted together in 2021. However, the Congolese player is reportedly seeking a higher salary. The deadline for a rookie scale extension expires this Monday. At the end of the season, Kuminga would ultimately become a restricted free agent.
