After his torn abdominal muscle, Franz Wagner has once again provided an update on his state of health. The comeback shouldn’t be too long in coming.
In the current season, Franz Wagner is setting the best values of his still young career, his Orlando Magic are in fourth place in the East after 41 games. To make matters worse, the All-Star aspirant tore his abdominal muscle at the beginning of December, just like the second Magic superstar, Paolo Banchero, before him. Brother Moritz has also been missing from Orlando for a few weeks with a cruciate ligament rupture, but the season is over for him due to the severity of the injury.
Wagner: “I think the muscle is not the problem”
The younger of the two Wagners, on the other hand, could be back on the field soon: “I feel good. I think everything is going in the right direction,” he told journalists at the Magic training session. He has already been able to increase his workload, and the actual injury to his abdomen is no longer a problem: “I was able to do more on the court. I don’t think the muscle is the problem. It’s more about getting physically fit again before I return,” emphasized the 23-year-old.
Wagner wants to take each day as it comes in his rehab and move forward, and in any case, he remains positive. So far, the Berliner has played in 25 games. He has averaged 24.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.7 assists and is considered a candidate for the All-Star Game, although his chances of being in the game through the All-Star voting are currently rather slim.
