Goal debut for Ramos – Messi celebrates PSG comeback

Paris Saint-Germain underlined their lead in the Ligue 1 table on Sunday evening. Especially after the change of ends, the capital club gave Stade Reims no chance – even though Mbappé kept a low profile.

After 90 far from one-sided minutes, it was 4-0 to the favourites, who continue to lead Ligue 1 with eleven points. PSG sniffed the lead early in the game, but Danilo Pereira and Mbappé (24th, 32nd) missed two good opportunities. Then Reims almost struck, but youngster Ekitike missed alone in front of Navas (35). Seconds before the break, the ball jumped to Verratti by chance, who scored with the help of the inside of the post (44.).

In the second half, Reims kept on scoring, so that Paris had to tighten the reins a bit – and that’s what the leaders did. In the 62nd minute, Sergio Ramos poked the ball over the line at the second attempt after a corner. It was the former Real Madrid captain’s first goal in a PSG shirt. Seconds later, Messi took to the pitch for the first time after his Corona infection and directly initiated the third goal: After the Argentine’s pass, Verratti’s shot was deflected twice and landed in the top right corner (67th).

Icardi heads to his own hand

The final goal was scored by Danilo Pereira, who took a direct shot after fine work by the goal-less Mbappé – the deflected shot could not be saved by Reims keeper Rajkovic (75th). It could have been even worse for the visitors, but after a cross from Nuno Mendes, Icardi headed the ball into his own hand, so that it ended up in the goal, but the goal was rightly disallowed (86th minute).

PSG’s next match is on 31 January, when they face OGC Nice in the last 16 of the French Cup, who are currently their closest rivals in Ligue 1.
