The Chicago Bulls have celebrated an 119-117 victory against the Los Angeles Lakers in one of the craziest final phases of the NBA season. Within just twelve seconds, the Bulls turned a game that was almost lost. Josh Giddey sunk a buzzer-beater from the center line.
The Lakers seemed to have the victory already in the bag. After two free throws by Austin Reaves, they led 115:110 with just 13 seconds left on the clock. But then the madness began: Patrick Williams made a three, Giddey stole the ball from LeBron James and Coby White drained another three clinically – suddenly the Bulls were leading 116:115!
But the Lakers still had an answer. Reaves made a determined move to the basket and put his team back in front with a layup. But then Giddey stepped up: with the buzzer, he drained a desperate shot from half-court and won the game for Chicago.
Giddey with triple-double – Reaves top scorer for the Lakers
Giddey was the outstanding man of the evening with 25 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists. White contributed 26 points, while Kevin Huerter also put in a strong performance with 21 points.
On the Lakers’ side, Austin Reaves was the top scorer with 30 points. Luka Doncic scored 25 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and made 7 assists, while LeBron James had a rather unremarkable evening with 17 points and 12 assists.
Bulls stay on course for the playoffs – Lakers suffer setback
With their ninth win in the last 11 games, the Bulls consolidated their 9th place in the race for the play-ins in the Eastern Conference. The Lakers (4th), on the other hand, conceded their eighth defeat in the last 12 games and need to quickly get back into the game. They have the next chance to do so in Memphis. At the same time, Chicago is hosting the Dallas Mavericks.
