David Soria was unconscious after a collision against RCD Mallorca on Sunday. There is now good news from the Getafe FC goalkeeper
The goalkeeper of Spanish first division club FC Getafe, David Soria, is on the mend after a serious collision on the last La Liga matchday. The 31-year-old lay unconscious on the pitch for several minutes on Sunday after the incident in the game against RCD Mallorca in the second half. Soria had previously flown through the air after colliding with the ball and hit his head in an unfortunate collision.
The goalkeeper was taken away in an ambulance, protected from view by a tarpaulin. According to his club, Soria is conscious and out of danger, but must remain in hospital for 24 hours for observation. The development is favorable, explained FC Getafe and thanked for all the supportive news.
Mallorcans turn the game around late on
Rather incidental: David Fuzato came on for Soria in the 84th minute. At this point, the home side were still leading 1-0 after a goal from Gaston Alvarez. With the reserve keeper in the box, coach José Bordalas’ side ended up losing 2-1 to the cup finalists, who turned the tables with goals from Vedat Muriqi (90′) and Pablo Maffeo (90+3) to give outgoing coach Javier Aguirre a final victory
Getafe are twelfth in the final La Liga table, three places above Mallorca. The three relegated teams – Cadiz, Almeria and Granada – had already been decided before matchday 38.
