The German Pro Club national team has reached the final of the Eurocup 2022, with Portugal waiting in the final for the continental 11vs11 crown on 4 May.
The mission to become European champions, which began with the first match of the group stage on 23 March, is on the verge of a possibly successful conclusion. The German team has played its way into the final of the Euro Cup 2022 – where Portugal will be waiting next week.
The decisive clash is scheduled for 4 May at 9 pm. The German 11vs11 team made it through to the final on Wednesday with a 3:1, 0:0 triumph over Georgia, with Djukan-Antonio ‘Chaos’ Gorniak the match-winner.
Double strike becomes the preliminary decision
After an uneventful first half in the first leg of the semi-final, ‘Chaos’ scored a brace within a few minutes at the start of the second period. Marcel ‘San’ Krause increased the lead to 3:0 shortly before the end, and in injury time the Georgians were able to reduce the score to 1:3 and maintain the remaining tension.
However, the semi-final opponents failed to make a real run in the second leg, and the German Pro Club team skilfully managed the match and advanced to the final with a commanding 0-0 score. With 3:1 on aggregate, ‘Chaos’ & Co. had already beaten Georgia to kick off the group phase and the Eurocup.
EM title to follow World Cup win
Further victories against Belgium (4:0, 2:1), Poland (0:0, 2:1) and Italy (0:1, 3:1) followed on the way to said semi-final. The Portuguese are the last opponents to be defeated if the reigning Pro Club world champions are to become the acclaimed European champions.
An official European Championship organised by EA SPORTS or FIFA does not yet exist – but the International Pro Clubs Community (IPCC) takes matters into its own hands. The Eurocup is a competition to find the best national pro club team on the continent, with 16 teams competing against each other.
