German MMA legend retires

At “OKTAGON 57″ in Frankfurt, a surprising announcement is made away from the fights. Christian Eckerlin also celebrates a bloodthirsty victory

Surprising announcement from Stephan Pütz. The most successful German fighter in MMA history to date announced the end of his career at the “OKTAGON 57” event in Frankfurt’s Festhalle.

“I think many of you are waiting for news on what will happen next. The sport of MMA has developed sensationally. I’m very proud to have been a part of it,” explained the 36-year-old.

“I want to thank all the people who have been involved in this process. I would like to announce today that I am laying down my gloves. I don’t want to prolong my career unnecessarily.”

The Frankfurt native fought 27 fights during his career, 22 of which he won. Among other things, he was champion at M1-Global.

Eckerlin celebrates bloody victory
