German makes it to US Open

Nastasja Schunk and Ella Seidel had already been eliminated

Tennis pro Eva Lys has made it into the main draw of the US Open. The 22-year-old beat Great Britain’s Lily Miyazaki 6:1, 6:2 in the third qualifying round to make it to Flushing Meadows for the second time.

However, Maximilian Marterer (Nuremberg), who lost his decisive duel, will not be competing. The 29-year-old lost 4:6, 2:6 to Mitchell Krueger from the USA and will therefore miss out on his fifth appearance at the hard court tournament in New York. Previously, Nastasja Schunk (Ludwigshafen) and Ella Seidel (Hamburg) had already failed
