The DFB has decided: Qualifier winner ‘Svonn’ and eSports author Tery Whenett will represent Germany at the first FIFAe World Cup of Football Manager
27 out of a possible 27 points – plus defensively solid and accurate up front: Sven Goly more than clearly won the German qualifier for the FIFAe World Cup of Football Manager, leaving little doubt about his nomination. However, the DFB had the final say, although it did not come as a surprise.
As the association announced on social media late on Friday afternoon, ‘Svonn’ will represent the German colors at the very first World Cup in Football Manager in Liverpool. Goly will be assisted by streamer and eSports author Tery Whenett.
“With Sven as manager, we have chosen someone who impresses with his innovative approach and tactical finesse. With his commanding victory in the qualifier, he has proven that he can lead and develop teams successfully. Tery as his assistant brings an additional tactical and strong analytical ability to the team, which is underlined by his years of in-depth knowledge and passion for the game,” the DFB told eSport.
‘Svonn’ considers it “a great privilege to represent the DFB as head coach at the FIFAe World Cup of Football Manager”, he told eSport. He is also delighted “to have gained a very versatile assistant for the tournament in Tery Whenett. For Whenett, the nomination is a highlight in his professional FM journey: “I’ve been making content as a football manager since 2015, but I never expected that the game would lead me to a DFB nomination and participation in the World Cup. In this respect, my thanks go to head coach Svonn and the DFB for their trust. After Svonn’s outstanding performance in the qualifier, we’re going into the tournament with great sporting ambitions.”
The World Cup will take place from August 29 to September 1 and, like the qualifying tournaments, will be held in Fantasy Draft mode.
