Tennis youngster Coco Gauff has reached the quarter-finals of the US Open in New York after a feat of strength. The 18-year-old from the USA advanced to the round of eight on Monday night thanks to a hard-fought 7-5, 7-5 win over China’s Zhang Shuai.
There Gauff, who some believe will succeed compatriot Serena Williams, will face Caroline Garcia. The 17th-seeded Frenchwoman beat Alison Riske-Amritraj of the USA 6-4, 6-1 in her round of 16 match.
