Widespread leaks spoil the excitement in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team (FUT), in the context of the Future Stars Promo a solution could be found – a commentary by Niklas Aßfalg.
Days of guessing and speculating as well as the dedicated prediction culture are a thing of the past in the FUT community. In the current season, almost all content is leaked in advance as part of unique or recurring events – in some cases it is known weeks in advance.
True excitement hardly comes up anymore, the release of new objects is mostly just the confirmation. EA SPORTS can’t like this development, the hype around individual promos has significantly decreased compared to previous titles. The developer has not yet commented on the topic.
Blaupause Future Stars: The suspense ace up EA’s sleeve
Currently the Future Stars dominate the action in FUT, both teams for the packs were already leaked a week before the event start. The special cards, which can be unlocked via Squad Building Challenges (SBC) or Objectives, could not be kept secret until now either. However, EA SPORTS has an ace up its sleeve.
Votes are held via Twitter, each of which approaches a new Future Star in two steps. First, the community votes for the nation of the professional, then for the position. Each completed vote brings the fans closer to the upcoming player, leaks are now apparently much more difficult.
Voting and co-determination
The new Future Star by Twitter choice will be unveiled and released at 7pm on Friday night, no reliable leaks exist yet – a partial win. Beyond the unpredictability, followers are given a sense of ownership. More than 100,000 votes testify to lively participation.
Incidentally, in the last vote, Germany won out over Spain as a nation, and the right-wing offensive was identified as the position. Ridle Baku, Kevin Schade, Jan Thielmann, Jamie Leweling? The community is still in the dark – and that is a pleasant change in FUT 22.
Model for further FUT content?
The voting is not new, EA SPORTS had already searched for some Future Stars in FIFA 21. Against the backdrop of the rampant leak wave, however, the mechanic has been given a new colour that suits it quite well. The developer should consider letting people vote on other FUT content as well.
