Heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury will defend his world title against Dillian Whyte after all.
“Oh my god! Dillian Whyte signed that eight million dollar contract. What a surprise!” said British boxing star Fury with clear irony in his voice in an Instagram video.
Fellow countryman Whyte had waited a long time to sign as the official challenger to the WBC champion and reportedly had contractual adjustments made through his promoter. The title fight is scheduled to take place at London’s Wembley Stadium on 23 April.
Fury (31 wins in 32 professional fights) goes into the fight as the clear favourite against Whyte (28 out of 30), who has already been beaten by Alexander Powetkin (Russia) and former world champion Anthony Joshua (Great Britain) in his career.
