From the east to Lake Zurich: VfB loans Perea again

Juan Perea will be playing in Switzerland next season. VfB Stuttgart are loaning out the striker, who has just returned from Hansa Rostock, again

As the Swabians announced on Monday, Juan Perea will be hunting goals for FC Zurich in the coming season. “After his loan to Hansa Rostock last season, the move to the Swiss Super League to FC Zurich is an absolutely sensible step for Juan,” Stuttgart’s sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth was quoted as saying in a statement from the Bundesliga club.

Perea, who came to Europe at the age of 18 to join FC Porto, moved to the Neckar from Greek first division club PAS Giannina in the summer of 2022 and has made 19 appearances for VfB (one goal). However, the Colombian will have to wait for further games in the Champions League starter’s shirt for the time being, but can hope for international appearances at FC Zurich. The 2022 champions will start in the Conference League qualifiers

Relegation with Rostock in the pre-season

“I’m very happy because I’m joining a great team with many titles. I’m ready and very motivated,” says the attacker in a video from his new employer. In it, he also makes it clear: “I want to score a lot of goals and I want to work for it.”

Perea played for Hansa Rostock in the 2nd Bundesliga last season. He scored four goals and provided one assist in 33 games for the Kogge, but only scored once after matchday 4 – in the end, he was still his team’s top scorer along with Junior Brumado, which made the Rostock dilemma quite clear: The Kogge had the weakest offense in the lower division and ended up being relegated directly to the 3rd division for this reason
