Freiburg’s Stamm demands: “Provide maximum energy”

On Saturday, SC Freiburg II take on 1. FC Kaiserslautern. The Breisgauer drew confidence above all from their defensive strength.

“We are looking forward to playing an opponent with such a great tradition and in a stadium that has a lot of history,” said Freiburg II coach Thomas Stamm on the club website before the game at 1. FC Kaiserslautern. Although there is a lot of respect for the Red Devils in view of their short winning streak before the international break (3/0/0) (“Kaiserslautern is very stable defensively and physically very strong”), the promoted team certainly does not want to hide in the Palatinate.

Why should they? The Bundesliga reserve of the SCF is behind the FCK in the 3rd division and only one point ahead of the relegation places. But the South Baden team is encouraged above all by its defensive strength. Five times in eleven games, the regular team and the well-rehearsed three-man backline of Kiliann Sildillia, Sandrino Braun-Schumacher and Max Rosenfelder have not conceded a goal. So it’s no surprise that the coach wants to approach the game on the Betzenberg “with a broad chest”, but he also demands from his team: “We have to put everything on the line again and provide maximum energy. “

Some players on international trips

During the recent international break, in which the team played a test match against FC Wil from Switzerland (0:1), several players of the Freiburg U 23 were on duty for different national teams. While Daniels Ontuzans (three third league appearances) was nominated for Lithuania’s senior team and Julius Tauriainen (eight) travelled to Finland’s U 21, four players – Kenneth Schmidt and Emilio Kehrer (U 20) as well as Robert Wagner and Max Rosenfelder (U 19) – were in DFB line-ups. Schmidt, Wagner and Kehrer even scored goals for the selection teams. “There were many positive experiences for the boys. That’s why it would be nice if they took this energy into the next game,” Stamm hopes.
