For the first time since Luca Waldschmidt and Robin Koch, two SC Freiburg players were called up to the national team again on Friday.
Nico Schlotterbeck (21) and Christian Günter (28) have made it into the selection of national coach Hansi Flick. For Schlotterbeck, it is the third nomination in a row, but the youngster has not yet made an appearance. Günter (3 caps) was last involved in the 2021 European Championship under Joachim Löw, but remained without an appearance. He will be considered by Flick for the first time.
The last time Sport-Club sent two players to the DFB selection, they were Luca Waldschmidt and Robin Koch – in November last year as part of the Nations League.The attacker currently plays for VfL Wolfsburg, Koch for Leeds United in the Premier League.
The national team plays its last two games of the calendar year on 11 and 14 November as part of the World Cup qualifiers against Liechtenstein and in Armenia.
