The city of Frankfurt has approved full capacity at Deutsche Bank Park for the Bundesliga match between the SGE and RB Leipzig. In addition, the compulsory wearing of masks in the standing-room area will be waived.
As the city announced on Wednesday, there had been “constructive talks between Eintracht and the health department” regarding the Bundesliga match against Leipzig on 30 October. According to these talks, the stadium may be filled to capacity with 51,500 spectators. In addition, masks will no longer be compulsory in the standing-room area, which had been criticised recently, but the 2G rule will apply.
Spectators with seat tickets are bound to the so-called 3G-Plus rule, which means that they must provide proof of vaccination, convalescence or PCR testing. Schoolchildren up to the age of eleven are exempt from the PCR rule, however, and will be admitted “upon presentation of their school test booklet or another rapid antigen test”, according to the city. In total, however, only up to 5,000 people with proof of testing will be allowed entry.
“This is a safe approach for the upcoming match,” Dr Antoni Walczok, deputy director of the health department, is quoted as saying on the city website. “We are adhering to the ordinance situation of the state of Hesse and can permit Eintracht to play in front of a full stadium under the aforementioned conditions. “
