Virgil van Dijk is still in the interest of some major British powers, after the defender failed to leave Southampton behind last summer. Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City are charmed by the Orange-international, but Jamie Carragher, former defender of the Reds, is very critical of Van Dijk and believes that the Dutchman needs to show more to make a transition.
Van Dijk was passed last weekend for guesswork at Chelsea (1-0) and Carragher agrees with Mauricio Pellegrino’s decision,”We talk about a player whom I think Southampton should sell, because keeping him hasn’t helped Southampton yet. If they are going to get money for him, they can get someone who adds something”.
“He probably starts playing Champions League from February, but at the moment he is more likely to play Champions League than Champions League football at the moment. He must consult himself. Whether that’s at Southampton until the end of the season, or at another club, doesn’t matter. He now plays in second gear.
Do you expect Virgil van Dijk to move away in winter?
