Formula E 2024/25: Nico Müller joins the Andretti team

Nico Müller will succeed Norman Nato as the new team-mate of former champion Jake Dennis in Michael Andretti’s Formula E team – what else is possible?

Nico Müller’s new employer in the Formula E World Championship has been confirmed. After the Swiss driver announced his imminent departure from Abt-Cupra before the end of the 2024 racing season and shortly afterwards also announced that he would be leaving the Peugeot works team in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) at the end of the season, his Formula E future has now been revealed.

Müller is switching to the Andretti team for the 2024/25 season of the electric racing series, which starts in December. As the new team-mate of Jake Dennis, the 2023 Formula E champion, the Swiss driver will take over from Norman Nato. The Frenchman is leaving the team after one season. His future is open.

“I’m delighted to be joining the Andretti Formula E Team,” said Müller. “It’s a team that has been successful in the championship from the start, especially in the Gen3 era in partnership with Porsche Motorsport. It’s an honor to be working with Jake [Dennis], a former world champion.”

“I’m looking forward to this opportunity and will do my best to contribute to the team’s success. The goal is to get some podiums and hopefully my first win in Formula E. I can hardly wait to get started,” says Müller.

Team owner Michael Andretti adds: “We have high expectations for the eleventh season and are confident that we can achieve strong results with a driver of Nico’s caliber. His experience and success in Formula E and numerous other highly regarded racing series will be a key factor in the expansion of our driver line-up. We look forward to seeing what Nico can do as we continue to strive for victories and world titles.”

The Andretti team has been involved in Formula E, which enters its eleventh season in December, right from the start. Jake Dennis secured the first title win in the 2023 season. As regular drivers in the Porsche customer team, Dennis/Müller will be colleagues of Porsche works drivers Pascal Wehrlein and Antonio Felix da Costa in the coming season.

It has not yet been announced how Nico Müller’s switch to Andretti will affect his own future in endurance racing. Under the name WTR Andretti, the Andretti team maintains a close cooperation with Wayne Taylor Racing in the IMSA racing series in North America. Two LMDh cars from Acura are currently used.

For 2025, WTR Andretti is making the switch to Cadillac and, in addition to an IMSA program, is also planning a program in the WEC, which Müller knows very well. However, WTR Andretti’s program with Cadillac in the World Endurance Championship has not yet been officially confirmed.

14:15: On Wednesday, one day after the announcement of his switch to the Andretti Formula E team, Porsche announced that Nico Müller would be a works driver for the German manufacturer. Head of Porsche Motorsport Thomas Laudenbach is quoted as saying: “We will announce at a later date whether and in which other series Nico will also drive for Porsche. ”
