Formula 1 weather 2024: The forecast for the race in Mexico City

The current weather forecast for the 20th race weekend of the 2024 Formula 1 season at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City

These are the crucial questions on every race weekend of the 2024 Formula 1 season. Namely: What is the weather forecast? Can wet conditions be expected on site? Do you need intermediates or even wet weather tires? Or will it just stay dry from practice to qualifying to the race, making dry weather tires sufficient? In short, what should the drivers Nico Hülkenberg, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton be prepared for?

To answer these questions, our editors keep a close eye on the weather at the Formula 1 venues for a few days before the start of the tests or race weekends. And as the event progresses, this preview article is updated with new information about the weather, such as temperature in degrees Celsius, wind strength, cloud cover and expected precipitation for each day of the weekend.

The result is a weather forecast that is as accurate as possible for the respective Grands Prix of the 2024 Formula One season. However, all information is provided without guarantee, as some motorsport locations, such as Spa-Francorchamps or the Nürburgring, are known for having particularly changeable weather that cannot always be accurately predicted. There may also be unannounced precipitation there.

The next time Formula One heads to the track will be in Mexico City, from October 25-27 for the Mexican Grand Prix, the 20th race of the year.

The current weather forecast for the race weekend in Mexico:

Lots of sun, little wind, very little risk of rain: as things stand, Formula One can expect another race weekend with unproblematic weather conditions in the Mexican capital. The forecast in detail:

On Friday (October 25), the sun will shine all day with a seven percent chance of precipitation, so rain is as good as ruled out. Temperatures will reach a pleasant high of around 22 degrees Celsius. The wind will not play a major role. It will blow weakly and reach an average of 15 km/h, with gusts just over 20 km/h, from changing directions.

Saturday (October 26th) will also start sunny. Some clouds may appear during the day. Some weather models predict light rain for the afternoon during qualifying, but the overall probability of precipitation is calculated at only 30 percent.

With a high of 20 degrees Celsius, it will not be quite as warm as on Friday. The wind will blow at similar speeds as the day before and will not affect driving.

On Sunday (October 27), the weather will be similar to Saturday. In addition to plenty of sunshine, clouds will also be visible. The chance of precipitation will increase slightly to 37 percent. However, if it does rain, no large amounts are expected.

With a maximum of 20 degrees Celsius, it will be similarly warm to Saturday. The wind will pick up slightly and blow at an average speed of 20 km/h, with gusts of up to 40 km/h, from the northwest. This means that there will be a tailwind on the long start-finish straight, which could make braking for the first corner difficult.

The forecast for the next race in Sao Paulo

No accurate forecasts are yet possible for the following race in Sao Paulo, Brazil (November 1st to 3rd). The forecasts currently assume typical weather for the season, with temperatures around 25 degrees Celsius, with the possibility of rain showers at any time, which could be heavy. An accurate forecast will follow here at the beginning of race week.
