Formula 1 weather 2024: The forecast for the race in Las Vegas

The current weather forecast for the 22nd race weekend of the 2024 Formula 1 season on the Las Vegas Strip Circuit

These are the crucial questions on every race weekend of the 2024 Formula 1 season. Namely: What is the weather forecast? Is wet weather to be expected at the venue? Will drivers need intermediates or even wet weather tires? Or will it just stay dry from training to qualifying to the race and dry weather tires will be sufficient? In short: What should drivers Nico Hülkenberg, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton expect?

To answer these questions, our editors keep a close eye on the weather at the Formula 1 venues for a few days before the start of the tests or race weekends. And as the event progresses, this preview article is updated with new information about the weather, such as temperature in degrees Celsius, wind strength, cloud cover and expected precipitation for each day of the weekend.

The result is a weather forecast that is as accurate as possible for the respective Grands Prix of the 2024 Formula One season. However, all information is provided without guarantee, as some motorsport locations, such as Spa-Francorchamps or the Nürburgring, are known for having particularly changeable weather that cannot always be accurately predicted. There may also be unannounced precipitation there.

The next time Formula One hits the track will be in Las Vegas, November 21-23 (local time) for the Brazilian Grand Prix, the 22nd race of the year.

The current weather forecast for the race weekend in Las Vegas:

In the Nevada desert, dry weather with mostly only light winds but quite cool temperatures awaits Formula One at the second running of the Las Vegas Grand Prix. The forecast in detail. The times given refer to local time in Las Vegas. In European time, all sessions will take place in the early morning hours of the following day.

On Thursday (November 21), after a sunny day, only a few harmless clouds will appear in the evening sky. Temperatures at the start of the first free practice session will be 14 degrees Celsius, but will drop to just under 10 degrees Celsius by the end of the second session. The wind will be barely noticeable, with a speed of less than 10 km/h, and will therefore have no influence on the cars’ handling.

On Friday (November 22), the weather will remain dry with clear skies until the evening. At the time of the qualifying session at 22:00 local time, the temperature will be around 10 degrees Celsius. As on the previous day, the wind will be light with speeds of less than 10 km/h.

On Saturday (November 23), a few clouds will appear during the day, but there is no rain in sight. Due to the clouds, it will cool down a little less in the evening than in the previous days. At the start of the race at 22:00 local time, temperatures of 13 degrees Celsius are expected.

There are still uncertainties in the wind forecast. While most weather models continue to predict only light winds, there are also solutions that expect gusts of up to 40 km/h from the south. Among other things, this would mean a tailwind in turn 1 and in the long turn 6 around the “Sphere”, which could negatively affect the cars’ handling.

The forecast for the next race in Qatar

Exact forecasts are not yet possible for the following race in Qatar (November 29 to December 1). However, the forecasts assume typical summery, dry weather for the region and time of year, with highs of 28 degrees Celsius during the day and lows of just over 20 degrees Celsius at night. An exact forecast will follow here at the beginning of race week.
