Formula 1 weather 2024: The forecast for the race in Budapest

The current weather forecast for the 13th race weekend of the 2024 Formula 1 season at the Hungaroring in Hungary

There are crucial questions on every Formula 1 2024 race weekend: What is the weather forecast? Can we expect a wet track on site? Do we need intermediates or even rain tires? Or will it simply remain consistently dry from practice through qualifying to the race and dry tires will suffice? In short, what do the drivers around Nico Hülkenberg, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton have to be prepared for?

In order to answer these questions, our editors keep a close eye on the weather at the Formula 1 venues a few days before the start of the tests or race weekends. And as the event progresses, this preview article is constantly updated with new weather information such as temperature in degrees Celsius, wind strength, cloud cover and expected precipitation for the individual days of each weekend.

The result is the most accurate weather forecast possible for the respective Grands Prix of the 2024 Formula 1 season. However, all information is subject to change, as some motorsport venues such as Spa-Francorchamps or the Nürburgring are known for having particularly changeable weather that cannot always be accurately forecast. Precipitation can also occur there without warning.

The next time Formula 1 takes to the track is in Budapest, from July 19 to 21 for the Hungarian Grand Prix, the 13th race of the year.

The current weather forecast for the race weekend in Budapest:

Cooling off in the water park next to the track might be a better alternative to a Formula 1 race, because the weekend will be pretty warm with temperatures consistently above 30 degrees Celsius and will make the drivers sweat. The forecast in detail.

The Hungarian summer is already showing its best side on Friday (July 19) – at least if you don’t have to do any high-performance sport. The thermometer will climb above the 30-degree mark by midday and will welcome the drivers to the two practice sessions with temperatures of around 33 degrees.

At least the direct sunlight will mostly be intercepted by a few clouds, which could provide a little shade. The risk of rain is manageable at just under 10 percent. The wind will blow moderately from the north at an average of 8 km/h and can reach peak wind speeds of around 25 km/h.

The picture is similar on Saturday (July 20), where at least the temperatures will drop a little – partly due to the cloud cover. Nevertheless, we are still talking about temperatures of around 30 degrees Celsius, which will be reached in qualifying.

The wind also does not change much and still has the same values and the same direction as the day before.

On Sunday (July 21), the 20 drivers are in for a sweaty day. There is no rain in sight and the temperatures are climbing again compared to the previous day. In the afternoon, 32 degrees Celsius are expected, which together with the Hungaroring, where there are no long breaks, will be a difficult affair.

However, the wind will change during the course of the day and is expected to blow from the south at around 7 km/h. The drivers will have to be prepared for this. The drivers will have to be prepared for this

The forecast for the next race in Belgium

For the following race in Spa-Francorchamps (July 26 to 28), we will not make a forecast, because as we all know, anything is possible in the Ardennes. Last year, the weekend was heavily rained out during the same period. An exact forecast will follow here at the start of the race week
