There are crucial questions on every Formula 1 race weekend in 2023: What is the weather forecast? Can we expect a wet track on site? Do we need intermediates or even rain tires? Or will it simply remain consistently dry from practice through qualifying to the race and dry tires will suffice? The qualifying session on Saturday night could be particularly exciting, as rain is a distinct possibility in the Nevada desert. On the other hand, dry conditions but cool temperatures are expected for the race on Saturday evening. The forecast in detail.
On Thursday (November 16), the sun will shine during the day and the sky will remain clear in the evening. The thermometer will drop to around 14 degrees Celsius before the second free practice session at midnight. The wind is blowing from varying directions, but with average speeds of ten km/h and gusts of up to 20 km/h, it is not a decisive factor.
Friday (November 17) will start off sunny, but clouds will gather in the afternoon and most weather models are predicting rain in the evening and during the night before qualifying. It is still uncertain whether it will only be light rain or whether heavier showers are possible.
Temperatures will drop to around twelve degrees Celsius before qualifying at midnight. The wind will remain light. Should showers move across the track, gusts of up to 30 km/h are possible.
The showers will move away in the night to Saturday (November 18). During the day, the sun will shine and it will remain dry until the start at 22:00 local time (CET Sunday 7:00). At 13 degrees, it will be just as cool as the previous days. The wind will continue to blow weakly at mid-teens, gusting up to 20 km/h.
