The Football Manager 2023 celebrates its premiere: For the first time, the club competitions of UEFA will be represented in the Sega game.
This is the second debut of the game to be celebrated. A few days ago it was announced that the manager will be available to play on PlayStation for the first time.
“Significant step” in the sense of the fans
For Miles Jacobson, director of developer Sports Interactive, it’s a special twofer: “Football Manager 2023 is another significant step for the series thanks to the introduction of UEFA club competitions and its release on PlayStation 5.”
Followers of the series in particular should benefit from this move: “Adding these historic competitions is a perfect fit for all parties involved and will add another dynamic and challenging element to the game for fans.” This will make the upcoming spin-off “the most realistic football manager simulation” on the market.
The UEFA Women’s Champions League should also contribute to raising the level of realism. However, patience is still required here, as the licence for the most important club competition in women’s football is part of the agreement with UEFA, but will only debut “in future versions of the game”.
Focus on women’s competitions and climate protection
So on a good note in terms of representation, environmental protection is also playing an important role in the release of Football Manager 2023, with fans who purchase a physical version for PC no longer receiving a disc. According to the announcement, there is only a code that can be redeemed on a digital platform of one’s choice. This will “reduce the carbon footprint of the Football Manager 2023 packaging by 47 percent compared to Football Manager 2022”.
A nice side effect, however, the main focus of those interested is likely to be on the gameplay and new features. These are expected to be announced in stages over the coming weeks before a release date of November 8.
