Not only since the victorious Valorant EMEA Challengers has Fnatic been one of the international top addresses when it comes to eSports. A reputation that is now set to continue in Apex Legends.
League of Legends, Valorant, Halo – the list of games in which Fnatic has already made a name for itself as an eSports great is long. At regular intervals, the organisation clears trophies. In FIFA, for example, one of the world’s best players, Donovan ‘Tekkz’ Hunt, is under contract with Fnatic. The last big triumph, however, came for the Valorant team when they won the EMEA Challengers and thus qualified for the Stage 2 Masters.
The British organisation now wants to celebrate similar successes in Apex Legends. Respawn’s Battle Royale offers the Global Series, a competition with a prize pool of two million dollars. The winner will pocket a whopping $500,000 of that.
Long road to the big money
But before the Fnatic team can reach for the title, they must first secure a spot in the Championship, the Global Series final. The path to this final leads through a regional Challengers series, the regular Global Series League and then play-offs, where the finalists are played out in a split.
Fnatic’s latest eSports addition therefore still has a long way to go, but is nevertheless on the big stage right away. The Apex team will make its first appearance on 7 July – as part of the Global Series Championship in the PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina.
