The goal by Florian Neuhaus for the 2:0 against Greuther Fürth was an eye-catcher. This is not the first time in his career that the midfielder has scored in an extraordinary way.
All footballers know the problem. Between idea and execution can sometimes be worlds apart. But with Neuhaus, it seems, things are somehow closer together than with other professionals. The best example was his 2:0 against Greuther Fürth: Neuhaus was quick to act and technically perfect when he dealt with Fürth’s goalkeeper Marius Funk’s failed, low shot and sank the ball from a good 25 metres into the visitors’ goal with a direct shot, like a tennis return. “Not everyone scores that goal,” praised coach Adi Hütter. “The fact that you can hit the empty goal from there is one thing. In January 2020, he almost copied the dream goal in the Bundesliga match against Mainz 05, outwitting the rushed keeper Robin Zentner from almost 40 metres with a perfectly placed lob.
