Flooding in Bologna: Duel against Milan moved to February 2025

Heavy rainfall in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna has led to the game between FC Bologna and AC Milan first being canceled and then having to be rescheduled.

In the past few days, so much water has fallen from the sky in the region around the region’s capital that it was out of the question to properly play the game between FC Bologna and Milan. The regular kick-off would have been at 6 p.m. today, Saturday.

Obviously, the league association was also considering holding the game in the Dall’Ara stadium in Bologna without spectators, but the city’s leaders put a spoke in their wheel. Even without the approximately 35,000 spectators, the city has enough to do with the floods of the last few days.

In addition, the relocation to a neutral location such as Empoli was discussed, but also rejected on Friday evening. Rather, the game has now been postponed until next year. The duel of the 9th matchday in the Serie A is expected to be repeated in February 2025. There is currently no exact date for the game.
