Flick is annoyed: Barca vs. Dortmund probably without Dani Olmo

FC Barcelona won their postponed game on Thursday evening, but lost Dani Olmo temporarily. Coach Hansi Flick is annoyed again.

Of course, there was never any question of rescheduling the home game against Osasuna. Barcelona’s team doctor, Carles Minarro Garcia, had died unexpectedly a few hours earlier, three weeks ago.

But the rescheduling also led Hansi Flick, who had criticized Real Madrid for similar scheduling complaints, to publicly quarrel with the league association. Shortly after the international break, Raphinha and Ronald Araujo were not yet fully available to the Catalans, who nevertheless put Osasuna in its place with a 3-0 win.

Thanks to the comfortable win in the postponed game, FCB extended their lead at the top of the table to three points over arch-rivals Real – three points “for which we paid a high price,” as Flick complained afterwards.

The second leg will be played in Dortmund

Spain international Dani Olmo had to be substituted due to injury after scoring a penalty for the second time in the first half. “It doesn’t look good,” his coach revealed afterwards. According to reports, the adductor muscles are affected.

“Two to three weeks” is how long Dani Olmo will be out for the Spanish league leaders, according to Flick, who will therefore have to plan at least the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Borussia Dortmund without his new signing. This will take place on April 9 in Barcelona, before the Catalans take to the pitch at Signal-Iduna-Park six days later.

Despite the protracted problems surrounding his registration, Dani Olmo has not yet become an undisputed starter at his youth club, but he has matured into a valuable rotational player and key substitute. In 28 competitive appearances, he has played for a total of 1400 minutes for Barca, scoring eight goals and making five assists.
