Fix: Von Ahlen succeeds Joppe in Bonn

On Monday, Bonner SC will start the short preparation for the rest of the season: Björn Joppe’s successor will then already be in charge of training.

The search for a coach at Bonner SC after the separation from Björn Joppe is over: Markus von Ahlen takes over the West-Regionalliga club – initially until the end of the season. The 50-year-old, who celebrates his birthday on New Year’s Day, most recently coached Bayer 04 Leverkusen’s U19s and can point to a shared past with BSC sporting director Daniel Zillken: Both worked together under the Bayer cross as an U-17 coaching duo after the turn of the millennium (2002 to 2008).

“Certainly not Rot-Weiss Essen and Preußen Münster “

Zillken is thus backing his old companion, having previously “seriously considered and met with three candidates”. Von Ahlen himself is also quoted on the Bonn website on Friday: “In several intensive discussions, those responsible for the committees and Daniel Zillken in particular were able to convince me that they want to develop and build something at Bonner SC in terms of perspective. All those involved must invest everything together to ensure that the all-important class preservation can be secured in the second half of the season.” However, an “enormous improvement in performance in all areas” is necessary for this. “We have little leeway and little time.”

“We are certainly not Rot-Weiss Essen, Preußen Münster or Rot-Weiß Oberhausen,” added Zillken, “but in Bonn we offer structures and an environment in which it is possible to work well. We need a coach who is not too shy to lend a hand and that is Markus von Ahlen. “

Renovation work at Sportpark Nord: BSC relocates to Pennenfeld

On Monday, the Bonners start the short preparation period for the rest of the season. Three test matches are scheduled before the start of the new year with a visit to SV Straelen on 22 January: RW Koblenz on 8 January, Siegburger SV on 12 January and VfB Hilden on 15 January. However, the BSC will have to play its upcoming regional league games in Pennenfeld. This is because both the pitch and the running track at the home Sportpark Nord are being renovated. “We’re leaving our home, but we won’t have to play on a battered pitch anymore,” said Zillken. In addition, the change of scenery could be helpful to shake off the home weakness (only two wins).
