Daniel Altmaier is still looking for his form on clay. In Monte Carlo, he is once again eliminated in the first round. The tournament is also over quickly for Yannick Hanfmann
The two Davis Cup pros Daniel Altmaier and Yannick Hanfmann were both eliminated in the first round of the Masters 1000 tournament in Monte Carlo. The 25-year-old Altmaier lost 2:6, 6:7 (3:7) to Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo. Hanfmann was clearly beaten by Frenchman Arthur Fils 0:6, 2:6.
The two German tennis players had actually already failed to qualify, but made it into the main draw as so-called lucky losers. However, they were unable to take their chances and were eliminated early. Neither of them looked really fit. Altmaier confirmed on Sky TV that he was a little ill and therefore not in full possession of his strength.
Dominik Koepfer had already lost his opening match the day before. Jan-Lennard Struff, on the other hand, made it through to the second round, where he will now face Croatian Borna Coric. Alexander Zverev had a walk-through in the opener. He will now face Austrian Sebastian Ofner.
