On Monday, after the FIFAe World Cup play-offs, the group stage of the FIFA World Cup was drawn. A tough programme awaits the German individual players.
On Sunday evening, after a deciding match between Benedikt ‘BeneCR7x’ Bauer and Levy Finn ‘levyfinn’ Rieck, it was clear: Four players from the VBL will represent Germany as individual players at the FIFAe World Cup in Copenhagen. One day after this certainty, the groups for the World Cup have now been drawn.
From Germany’s point of view, the groups B, C and D, in which the four qualifiers will play, are exciting. One thing is already clear: two of the VBL participants will meet in the group phase. Koray ‘Kkoray’ Kücükgünar and Umut ‘Umut’ Gültekin are in the “Group of Death” C, where they will also meet the reigning eChampions League winner Nicolas ‘Nicolas99FC’ Villalba from Argentina. Whoever comes out on top in the end is likely to be one of the favourites for the title.
‘BeneCR7’ vs ‘Tekkz’ – ‘DullenMIKE’ vs eCL runner-up
The groups in which ‘BeneCR7x’ and Dylan ‘DullenMIKE’ Neuhausen will fight to advance are not quite as extreme in terms of width. But the reigning VBL champion Neuhausen and the player from Bochum also have exciting tasks ahead of them: Bauer has been drawn in Group B with none other than FIFA superstar Donovan ‘Tekkz’ Hunt. The VfL colleague from ‘KKoray’ will have to show all his skills against the Englishman from ‘Fnatic’.
‘DullenMIKE’, meanwhile, is collecting country points, as Group D is the only group in which no country is represented twice. From the colourful bouquet of Asia, North America and Europe, one Argentinean also stands out here. Matias ‘matiasbonanno’ Bonanno is no less strong than his compatriot Villalba. It was not for nothing that the two fought an all-Argentine duel for the title in the final of the eChampions League.
