FIFAe Nations Cup: DFB qualified after Austria win

The German eNationalteam has qualified for the FIFAe Nations Cup in the play-offs.

At 5.40pm on Saturday, the DFB’s eFootball accounts made the blissful post: “We’re going to Copenhagen!!!”. Umut ‘Umut’ Gültekin and Mustafa ‘xMusti19’ Cankal could be seen – each with a victorious grin on their face reflecting the success they had achieved.

Minutes earlier, the German eNational team had won the play-offs to qualify for the 2022 FIFAe Nations Cup in the Danish capital. After a commanding group stage on Thursday and Friday, ‘Umut’ and ‘xMusti19’ also beat Austria 1-0 and 1-1 in the first round of the Winner Bracket.

‘Umut’ and ‘xMusti19’ in the semi-finals

The narrow triumph over Fabio ‘FAOETNATION’ Özelt and Maximilian ‘MaximilianMayrhofer’ Mayrhofer saved the DFB duo a diversion via the second chance bracket. They went on to beat Spain 1:1 and 1:0, which is why Germany will play in the semi-finals of the Winner Bracket on Sunday.

There, ‘Umut’ and ‘xMusti19’ will face Poland from 5 p.m., but the decisive step has already been taken. The German eNational team is one of 24 teams competing for the Nations Crown in FIFA 22 from 27 to 30 July – and incidentally for the lion’s share of the prize money totalling $400,000.

France and Italy are still trembling

FIFA has already communicated the framework for the offline final round: The 24 nations will be divided into four groups of six teams each, with the top four countries advancing to the round of 16. What follows is apparently an ordinary knockout system, without double elimination and second chances.

Poland, Spain, England, Portugal, Sweden, the Netherlands and Scotland also celebrated their entry into the FIFAe Nations Cup via the European play-offs on Saturday. France and Israel, as well as Italy and Malta, will play for two more tickets in the second-chance bracket – the losers will even get a third opportunity.
