The second week of the Online Qualifiers on the way to the FIFAe Club World Cup has brought the first decisions, NEO was again on top in Conference 2.
After the Swiss organisation had already prevailed in the second conference of the “Eastern and Central Europe” zone in the first week of play, the next strike followed on Friday. Once again, the German eNationals Dylan ‘DullenMIKE’ Neuhausen and Kai ‘Hensoo’ Hense triumphed – they also remain unbeaten.
NEO dominated the Winner Bracket, defeating Galatasaray Espor 4-3 and 5-3 in the final, the Turks having previously knocked out VfL Wolfsburg (2-1 and 5-3). FOKUS CLAN, FC Schalke 04, Borussia Mönchengladbach and RB Leipzig had to drop out earlier – RB’s top talent Anders ‘Anders’ Vejrgang made his first appearance in the competition.
BVB make it into Division 2
Division 2 of the second Conference was decided without German participation in the final between GL17CH and NOM eSport. Bayer 04 Leverkusen and SV Werder Bremen narrowly fought their way to stay in the division and thus to advance to week three, while SpVgg Greuther Fürth are out after losing to Bayer in the second round (0:3 and 0:3).
In Division 3, Borussia Dortmund secured the week’s win and promotion with Dennis ‘BVB_denninho’ Malcherczyk and Eldin ‘BVB_Eldos’ Todorovac – BVB remain in the running. Eliminated from the FIFAe Club Series once again is FC Ingolstadt 04, who were defeated in the Loser Bracket by Torino Esports (0:1 and 2:2).
‘BeneCR7x’ and ‘Godly’ beat Cologne
The NEO equivalent of the first Conference was VfL Bochum, who won Division 1 in the final against 1. FC Köln (2:2 and 2:1). Benedikt ‘BeneCR7x’ Bauer and Justin ‘Godly’ Kampmeier had already eliminated Italian representatives FC Genoa and AC Monza in the Winner Bracket.
Hannover 96, on the other hand, had to go down to Division 2, losing 3:3 and 1:4 to FC Basel in the second round. Hertha BSC’s eSports academy managed to stay in the competition in Division 2, but IQONIC was eliminated after losing 1:2 and 2:2 to the Berlin team.
Divisions 3 are eliminated
In the third division of Conference 1, two more German teams have been hit: Haching eSports sealed the elimination of Leno eSports in the second round by 3:0 and 3:0, but shortly afterwards it was also over for the Bavarian team against CIG Gaming (0:3 and 0:3) – only promotion would have meant another chance.
The clubs and organisations in the third divisions will be sorted out after match week two. In the coming third match week, promotion or staying in Division 1 must be achieved again. Only then will they be eligible to play for a place in the FIFAe Club World Cup play-offs in week four.
