EA SPORTS also wants to increase visually in FIFA 23. “Hyper-realistic matchday experiences”, drone rides and more – the audiovisual innovations at a glance.
After a general overview and the deep insights into HyperMotion 2 and the career mode, the audiovisual innovations in FIFA 23 are now on the roadmap.
EA SPORTS wants to make the football experience more vibrant across the board – saying this year’s instalment brings “the best presentation yet”.
Drone flight and singing audience
FIFA 23 uses drones that fly one over the stadium at the start of each match. Front facades of the stadiums had been redesigned for this purpose.
The crowd, too, is to get a makeover. The crowd is now not only more individual and with the soundtrack “more in sync than ever before”. The stadium atmosphere also benefits from over 500 new chants. In our test games at the FIFA 23 Developer Showcase, spectator scenes were repeatedly played during standards in order to heat up the atmosphere during the game as well. However: In the test, any variation was still missing. It was confirmed to us that this will be added in the future.
If all this is not enough for you, you can now play the FIFA soundtrack during the game in FIFA 23. Furthermore, the PS5 will get extra controller audio features – what exactly will be heard from the small speaker in the controller, EA did not say yet.
After already having a lot going on before and during the game in FIFA 22, FIFA 23 will get more goal songs and anthems that will also sound after the game. All of them shall be available individually in FUT as well as in the career mode.
Eating grass for 90 minutes
With a smirk on his lips, EA SPORTS’ senior art director Fab Muoio showcased the completely revamped grass during the Developer Showcase. The team was proud of the depth and the shadows cast by the green.
But that was not the end of it: In FIFA 23, the football pitch not only wears out more with every minute, it also reacts to the actions of the players: A straddle, for example, results in a deep furrow. The churned-up green remains on the pitch until the final whistle.
Small things without question – but this detail actually created a small feeling of satisfaction during our FIFA 23 test game.
Animated nets and all the rest
The nets also got a new animation in the newest part. Whereas until FIFA 22 they were virtually shown as a transparent wall, data from test matches and training sessions could now be obtained for the HyperMotion 2 technology. The goal net benefits from this for the first time – is supposed to react realistically when goals are scored and increase “the feeling of happiness when you score”.
Overall, the coverage of the games is to be made more elaborate. Replays, special camera settings for standards and augmented reality elements are intended to conjure up a “hyper-realistic matchday experience” for matchgoers in their living rooms.
A new FUT intro is also in the pipeline, along with overlay packages for the English FA Women’s Super League, the French Division 1 Féminine and the Italian Serie A.
