FIFA 22: Title-Update 5 increases ball control after interception

The fifth Title-Update for FIFA 22 is extremely slimmed down: EA SPORTS takes care of only one thing – has the turning point already been reached?

Year after year the developer regularly comes up with big patches in the first months of the FIFA season, which introduce numerous changes. In FIFA 22, Title Update 4 in January had fixed various problems in different modes and brought some gameplay adjustments.
Every year there comes a time when EA SPORTS seems to focus on the upcoming sequel and lets the current title slip away. The new Title-Update 5 could be an indicator for this turning point in FIFA 22.

Successful defending should be rewarded

The full-fledged patch only includes one change, even the recent live tuning update seemed superficially more extensive. Which begs the question why EA SPORTS did not also make this one adjustment as part of a live tuning update. The developer is unlikely to provide an answer.

Title update 5 increases the defender’s control of the ball following interceptions or blocks after low passes. Until now, the ball was often lost in these situations and the successful execution was therefore irrelevant. In future, the improvement should reward the player for successful defensive behaviour.

No influence on the frequency of actions

It was important for EA SPORTS to emphasise that the patch will not affect the frequency of successful interceptions or blocks – only the result will be improved.

Title Update 5 has been available for PC players since Tuesday morning. It will follow on the PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X
