EA SPORTS has good New Year’s resolutions: The new Title-Update 4 is supposed to fix the corner-bug and the line-problem in FIFA 22 among other things.
More than two months have passed since the developer last made a major overhaul of its current offshoot. Title Update 3 fixed the free-kick bug back then, the follow-up patch, which was released on Wednesday, is dedicated to another standard situation: For weeks, videos have been circulating showing a special corner variant that disproportionately often leads to a goal.
EA SPORTS wants to mitigate this by changing the positioning of the defenders and making their AI smarter. Also annoying for many fans was the fact that the player with home rights was allowed to determine the colour of the lines on the pitch in FUT. This repeatedly resulted in barely visible boundaries that were intended to irritate the opponent.
From now on, players who play away from home will also be able to see their own lines. Meanwhile the goalkeepers are the most popular update content: Although the goalkeepers in FIFA 22 are already quite strong, they will be improved further.
Goals from acute angles made more difficult
Keepers showed weaknesses with shots aimed close to the body – such as between the legs or just past the head. In addition, the shooting assistance should be reduced if the goalkeeper is positioned close to one of the posts, which makes hits from acute angles more difficult. Finally, the saves on low shots and the running out will be polished up.
Further gameplay adjustments concern, among other things, strong deep passes that are to be intercepted better in the future, player changes in which the wrong professional is selected, and referees who do not penalise straddles that are clearly set too late or who whistle wrong fouls.
New player faces after server update
In addition, EA SPORTS released various additional bug fixes and changes in all modes – Ultimate Team, Career, VOLTA and Pro Clubs have all been revised. The complete list of measures can be found in the patch notes for Title Update 4.
The implementation of 124 new player faces has been prepared, but will only be implemented in a server update in the near future. The latest patch is already available for all PC players of FIFA 22, for the consoles PlayStation 4 and 5 as well as Xbox One and Series X
