The voting for the Premier League TOTS for FIFA 22 Ultimate Team (FUT) is open. Surprisingly the current third of the table is completely passed over.
40 players were made available by EA SPORTS on Friday for voting and selection for the Premier League’s Team of the Season (TOTS). Incomprehensibly, the developer did not choose a single professional of the “Blues”, who are third in the table – and thus lead the rest of the field behind the two dominators.
Édouard Mendy would have been considered for the goalkeeper position. Thiago Silva, Antonio Rüdiger, Reece James and N’Golo Kanté were also candidates. At the very least, though, most FUT 22 fans had expected a voting nomination for Mason Mount; with ten goals and nine assists, he is the league’s fourth-leading scorer.
Elf times “Skyblues”, nine times “Reds “
All the other clubs in the top eight Premier League tiers field at least one contender. Even Wolverhampton Wanderers, in eighth place in the table, are represented twice by José Sá and Ruben Neves. Whether EA SPORTS will add to the Chelsea front as part of the actual TOTS release remains to be seen.
While the reigning Champions League winners have not been included, top teams Manchester City and Liverpool FC together make up half of the entire field. The “Skyblues” count eleven professionals from their own ranks in the Premier League TOTS voting, from the “Reds” nine players are nominated.
Bundesliga next up
Liverpool field the entire starting back four of Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson. City, on the other hand, dominate the midfield with Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gündogan, Rodri and Bernardo Silva. Incidentally, Gündogan is also the only German in the TOTS voting for the Premier League.
From both a sporting and FUT point of view, some names are likely to be clear favourites for selection: Mohamed Salah should be able to secure a TOTS place, while the aforementioned De Bruyne and Cristiano Ronaldo also have good cards. The Portuguese is the third best league goalscorer despite some teething problems at Manchester United.
Voting will close next Monday, with the announcement and likely release in FUT 22 coming on 6 May. The next division in EA SPORTS’ voting calendar for the TOTS promo is the Bundesliga, where voting opens on 27 April – we’ve already ventured a prediction.
