FIFA 22: Live-Tuning-Update 3 weakens and strengthens keeper

EA SPORTS follows the fourth Title-Update in FIFA 22 with the third Live-Tuning-Update, the efficiency of the virtual goalkeepers will be adjusted.

The last full-blown patch for the current FIFA offshoot was released on 12 January for PC users, on consoles it was implemented only two days ago. However, Title Update 4 does not seem to be complete, EA SPORTS already adjusted in the night to Thursday and published the third Live Tuning Update.

With the help of the live tuning tool, the developer can also make some gameplay adjustments outside of large and elaborate title updates – however, already eight days later, it seems as if EA SPORTS has not worked cleanly lately. The object of the new live tuning update was already dealt with in the fourth patch: the goalkeepers.

Defensive chances for different distances

At the beginning of the year, the keepers were still provided with improvements for various game situations, now a weakening also follows. EA SPORTS focuses on the distance from which the goal of the goalkeepers is shot. At 6.1 metres or less, their efficiency is reduced – previously quick reflexes were too frequent.

On the other hand, the goalkeepers’ efficiency is increased if the shot is taken between 9.8 and 11.2 metres. From this distance, too many balls that could be kept had previously hit the goal.

The developer explicitly emphasises that goals can still be scored from this distance, but that the goalkeepers will make more saves.

Live Tuning Update 3 is available for the FIFA 22 versions of PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X
