The voting for the Team of the Season (TOTS) of the Bundesliga for FIFA 22 Ultimate Team (FUT) is open, the distribution of the players is balanced like seldom before
FC Bayern München is once again the German champion in the 2021/22 season, with a lead over Borussia Dortmund of twelve points with three matchdays to go. Nevertheless, not only performance fluctuations in the Bundesliga, but also the early elimination in the DFB Cup and Champions League tarnish the overall picture.
Accordingly, the record champion has the most nominees in the TOTS voting of the German top flight, but there is no clear dominance. Manuel Neuer, Alphonso Davies, Joshua Kimmich, Leroy Sané, Thomas Müller and Robert Lewandowski make up the Munich sextet for the freshly opened Bundesliga voting.
Only trios for Dortmund and Leipzig
Bayer 04 Leverkusen have just one candidate less, with Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, Moussa Diaby, Patrik Schick and Kerem Demirbay nominated from the “Werkself”.
Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are each represented by three professionals, putting the two German heavyweights behind SC Freiburg and Eintracht Frankfurt (four each). The Eagles’ Jesper Lindström, in particular, is a player that hardly any expert had expected to be on the Bundesliga ballot.
Bielefeld and Stuttgart double eligible
Not necessarily obvious were also the duos coming from acutely relegation-threatened VfB Stuttgart and Arminia Bielefeld. Borna Sosa and Wataru Endo enter the race for the Swabians, while Masaya Okugawa and Patrick Wimmer are available for selection from the East Westphalians for the TOTS midfield.
Stuttgart and Bielefeld thus have more contenders than Europa League aspirants Union Berlin. From the “Eisernen” only Taiwo Awoniyi can be voted for. EA SPORTS has thus decided against Niko Gießelmann, who has already collected eleven scorer points from the left wing – significantly more than, for example, Leipzig’s TOTS candidate Angelino.
High-scoring centre-backs left out
Besides Gießelmann, there are a few more players missing who would have deserved inclusion in the voting based on their sporting achievements: Niklas Süle of FC Bayern and Manuel Akanji of BVB have the strongest after Freiburg’s Nico Schlotterbeck – they cannot be voted in.
For the midfield, many fans had certainly expected Konrad Laimer from RB, and Munich’s Leon Goretzka or Jamal Musiala also showed some excellent performances. However, the two Bayern pros may have been doomed by the fact that they have played too few Bundesliga games over a meaningful amount of time.
Gnabry and Andrich could move up
Serge Gnabry and Robert Andrich, on the other hand, were already on the ballot as part of the community voting. They could still slide into the Bundesliga TOTS insofar as they did not receive enough votes in the first vote. The release of the community selection has been scheduled by EA SPORTS for next Friday.
The TOTS of the Bundesliga can be voted for until 1 May, announcement and release in FUT 22 will take place on 13 May as planned. The next and probably last voting is scheduled for 3 May: Then the fans will be able to vote on the selection for the Spanish La Liga, for which we have already created a prediction.
