Ferrari presentation 2025: launch of the new car after F1 season kick-off

Ferrari reveals the date of its car presentation for the 2025 Formula 1 season: February 19 marks the start of the Scuderia’s title hunt.

Ferrari is the first Formula One team to announce the date of its 2025 car presentation. On social media, Ferrari posted a teaser image with the date of February 19, 2025 and the message: “Get ready to meet our challenger for 2025.”

Although no further details were given about the location, Ferrari has traditionally held such events at its headquarters in Maranello.

The unveiling of the new Ferrari racer will take place one day after the official opening of the Formula 1 season at the O2 Arena in London, where all 20 drivers and ten teams will present their liveries to the public for the first time.

While some teams may unveil their new cars before the event in London, it is expected that most will schedule their presentations after it, as pre-season testing does not start until February 26 in Bahrain.

Ferrari go into the 2025 season with the aim of winning the world championship, after a strong title fight with McLaren this year. The signing of Lewis Hamilton, who will race alongside Charles Leclerc, also sparked particular interest.

No separate introduction of Hamilton

However, the proximity in time between the official season opening and the Ferrari presentation has led the team to rule out a separate introduction of Hamilton as a Ferrari driver – as was the case with Michael Schumacher in 1996.

Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur said at an event in Maranello on Wednesday: “We have to focus on the season. The time between the first day and the launch is very short, it’s only a few weeks.”

“I want everyone to focus on performance. We have the launch of the championship and the launch of the car. That’s two events already – more than enough.”

Ferrari has not yet decided when Hamilton will test a Ferrari for the first time. However, the team plans to give him a test drive in an earlier model – presumably the 2023 car – at the test track in Fiorano or in Maranello.

Vasseur explained that the timing would depend on the weather, but he does not see this as a problem. “He’s not the rookie of the year, I’m not worried about that at all. We know there are a lot of procedures to learn in those few days, but he’s experienced enough to manage that.”

“We have the advantage of the simulator, where he can simulate a race and a qualification to familiarize himself with the wheel and the specifics of the car. But that’s not a problem and it’s not the biggest challenge either.”
