FCN coach Klauß appears in the state cup and surprises opponents

Nürnberg’s coach Robert Klauß caused a big surprise on Friday evening when he suddenly appeared in the state cup. Even an opponent on the pitch asked him if he was really the coach of the FCN.

A nice pastime during the international break or back to an active football career? Even though the first option seems more likely, club coach Robert Klauß must have surprised many on Friday evening when he suddenly appeared in the Saxon state cup. The coach of second division side 1. FC Nürnberg was substituted in the 76th minute at SSV Markranstädt , but was unable to prevent the 3-0 defeat against FSV Budissa Bautzen.

However, he did cause quite a stir and some incredulous faces. Opposite number Norman Kloß at least asked about it to be on the safe side. “I asked him on the pitch if he was really the coach of Nuremberg. He answered very charmingly, we laughed a bit. But he’s just a normal opponent,” MDR quoted him as saying.

Klauß: “I still wanted to help turn the thing around “

Klauß himself was happy about the welcome change. “It was fun to be back on the pitch with the boys, “ commented the 36-year-old. “Of course I would have liked a different result. I still wanted to help turn this thing around. I still live here, I’m extremely attached to the club and I also play here with the old men. With SSV coach Olaf Brosius, I always find it impressive how he gets a team together that stands up for each other and has an amazing mentality.”

The FCN coach previously striked for SSV from 2006 to 2009 and again from 2013 to 2016, before his coaching career began at RB Leipzig.
