FC Barcelona is threatening AS Roma with legal consequences over a cancelled friendly match. This was announced by the Catalans on Tuesday.
The two traditional clubs were due to meet at the Camp Nou on 6 August to play for the Joan Gamper Trophy. However, the Italians had let the test fall through and justified the cancellation with a rearrangement of the summer schedule. The women’s teams from both sides had also been due to play each other on the same day.
As Barcelona has now announced, the club is considering legal action “for damages caused to FC Barcelona and its fans due to this unexpected and unjustified decision”. The cancellation was “unilateral and without reason”.
The Catalans are now looking for a new opponent.
