Most of the well-known streamers and eSport players have already played EA SPORTS FC 24. What are their first impressions of the game?
EA SPORTS has definitely made a big public impact with FC 24. Several videos, articles and tests can be found on the net. On X (formerly Twitter), “EA SPORTS FC 24” has already trended several times over a longer period of time. But with all these opinions, assessments and information: What first impression has the scene actually gained of the new title?
Two-time German FIFA champion Mirza Jahic only said goodbye to virtual football in June. He felt “pure emptiness” with FIFA 23. FC 24, however, seems to have filled that void quickly. Just in time for Early Access, the former eSport athlete picked up the controller again and stepped onto the digital pitch. His early conclusion was anything but bad.
He was visibly surprised after the final whistle of his very first game in FC 24: “I was so into this game that I didn’t even look at the clock. I didn’t notice that the 90th minute was already running.” He “liked the gameplay and feel”, it was “entertaining” and “went by super fast”. He attested that FC 24 “definitely has potential”.
Jahic praised the “more demanding passes” compared to FIFA 23, but also expressed reservations: “I’m still cautious. It was already the case in the last few years that passing was more difficult at first. Then the first patch came and everything was ping pong again.” He was particularly impressed by the new players in Ultimate Team.
FUT: Women’s integration “surprisingly well done “
“The ones I noticed the most in the game are the women. Their dribbling is really, really crass,” said Jahic. Tim ‘Latka’ Schwartmann was also quick to mention the inclusion of women in FUT: “Of course you all want to know: How do the women play compared to the men?” he said in his first FC 24 stream – and replied: “I think it’s worked surprisingly well so far.”
He said he knew the opinion of some fans that giving women and men similar stats in Ultimate Team was unrealistic. “If you’re already integrating women into FUT, they have to be playable. Otherwise, there’s no reason for it at all. And so far I have a good impression,” the former Schalke eSportsman countered.
Schwartmann’s biggest insight was the speed of the game: “It feels a bit slower at first.” But that is “always the case at the start”, he said, adding that the reason is obvious. “If you’ve been playing FIFA 23 for the last few days and weeks, you’ve probably been playing with 99er cards. It’s logical that a Thierry Henry with 99 pace and 99 shooting feels different to a Diogo Jota with 82 pace and 82 shooting,” he explained.
Erhan ‘Dr Erhano’ Kayman had his main focus on a different mechanic. “The defence is not as compact as in previous years, which gives the game a new dynamic,” the 2019 German FIFA club champion wrote on X. “Dribbling – especially with R1 – is extremely effective and hard to defend against, which is a welcome challenge for me.”
Skill moves and crosses he considers “well balanced”, the passes “faster and more accurate”. He says he’s thoroughly satisfied so far: “I last had that feeling in FIFA 19, and it’s nice to have it back.” But even ‘Dr Erhano’ is not without doubts about the near future: “It remains to be seen, however, how the developers will continue to shape the game. You know EA and their patches.”
