EA SPORTS has reacted to the sudden death of Montenegrin goalkeeper Matija Sarkic in FC 24. In doing so, the developer once again had to take a measure against FUT players without sensitivity
This is not the first time EA SPORTS has been forced to intervene in the Ultimate Team transfer market. The silver card of keeper Matija Sarkic, who died suddenly on June 15, quickly rose in price from 200 to 10,000 coins after it became known. Some FUT players wanted to earn a golden virtual nose. EA SPORTS has now at least put a stop to these impious profiteers: the price range for Sarkic’s item has been fixed at a maximum of 10,000 coins.
The fact that some members of the FUT community want to get rich from the death of a professional is not an isolated case: a similar thing happened in FC 24 with Agyemang Diawusie and in FIFA 22 with Jordi Bongard
Sarkic removed from virtual Milwall squad
In addition to the adjustment of the FUT transfer market, EA SPORTS removed Sarkic from his former club FC Milwall in career and kick-off mode. Said silver card has also been removed from Ultimate Team packs. The publisher was “shocked” by the Montenegrin’s death and expressed its “sincere condolences” to “his family, FC Milwall and his fans from all over the world”.
According to the Montenegrin public broadcaster RTCG, Sarkic, who was still in goal for the national team just a few days before his death, woke up around 6 a.m. on the morning of June 15 and felt ill. Friends called an ambulance, but Sarkic died shortly afterwards. The former goalkeeper was only 26 years old.
