The trickster glitch currently makes FC 24 and the Weekend League almost unplayable for many fans. The community rages against EA SPORTS – but partly also against their own members. Why?
Update: EA SPORTS has temporarily removed the PlayStyle “Trickster+” from FC 24 on Friday evening. The corresponding players have received “Trickster” instead. “Trickster+” is expected to return once the developer has implemented a long-term solution to the problem.
It is perhaps the most fundamental rule of soccer: no field player is allowed to play the ball with his hand.
FC 24 is currently breaking this foundation virtually. A glitch has recently appeared in the simulation that sticks the playing device to the calf of a digital professional – or even to his hand. The PlayStyle “Trickster+” and the skill move “Catch a Spin” are responsible for this. The former is a prerequisite for executing the latter. If the latter is interrupted at the appropriate moment, the ball attaches itself to the calf or hand.
As a result, the respective player character can no longer be separated from it. Fair tackles or straddles do not help, even fouls are ineffective. The fans have to watch impotently as the opponent transports the stuck-on ball wherever he wants – for example, into the opponent’s goal. An option that many FC 24 players are currently choosing, as numerous videos on social media reveal.
Ex-eNationalcoach questions EA prioritization
EA SPORTS says it is investigating but has not yet fixed the glitch. It also means he’s currently part of the Weekend League, making it almost unplayable for parts of the FUT community. “I’m yet to destroy my screen,” FUTBIN commented on X (formerly Twitter) regarding the bug. “Is this the worst glitch ever?” the account ‘OZiLLA’ asks its nearly 20,000 followers.
German ex-eNational coach Matthias ‘STYLO’ Hietsch, meanwhile, questions the developer’s prioritization: “A rogue who thinks it would have been patched long ago if this was about an FC Points glitch.” Especially the version of the glitch where the ball sticks to the hand is already used by various content creators as a breeding ground for joking comparisons with other sports.
Scott Bird reports on “Basketball in FC 24.” ‘Fut Sheriff’ writes, “NFL mode is now available in FC 24.” However, the vast majority of the community is upset. “I look in Weekend League streams and at least every second opponent tries to exploit the bug. That’s insane,” says eSports player Fabienne ‘FabienneXIII’ Morlok. However, her criticism is not only directed at EA SPORTS.
“I really hope that EA bans people for a certain period of time,” the FOKUS player adds. The user ‘FUTZone’ also takes the same line: “The players who use this glitch must be banned.” He also addresses the developer directly: “I’m surprised you haven’t released an emergency patch yet. Many people will stop playing the game because of this.”
