SpVgg Greuther Fürth have brought in a second returnee for their second team: After Daniel Adlung, Fabian Baumgärtel will also join the cloverleaf in the New Year.
Baumgärtel played the past two seasons in the SV Elversberg jersey. His contract with the Südwest-Regionalligist has now been terminated “by mutual agreement” six months before it expires. “The early termination of the contract is a sensible step for both sides. Nevertheless, we would of course like to thank Fabian Baumgärtel for his commitment to SVE over the past few years and wish him all the best for his future,” sporting director Ole Book is quoted as saying on the SVE website.
The left-back will return to SpVgg Greuther Fürth, for whom he had already played between 2004 and 2012, on 1 January 2022. “Fabi was part of the 2012 promotion squad and has gained a lot of experience since then. With him, we gain further leadership qualities on the pitch. He is someone who enriches our young team as another anchor player,” said Mirko Reichel, the sporting director of the Kleeblatt Academy.
This means that the Kleeblatt has already brought back a second long-serving player for the second team, which is based in the Bavarian Regionalliga. Just earlier this week, SpVgg announced the signing of Daniel Adlung.
