Ex-Formula 1 driver Logan Sargeant to take first IndyCar test

Second career in the USA? After being released by Williams, Logan Sargeant could seek a move to IndyCar – a first test is already scheduled

Logan Sargeant, a former Williams Formula One driver, will complete his first IndyCar test program with Meyer Shank Racing this fall. The team wants to check the American for a possible place in the future.

The test marks Sargeant’s return to the wheel for the first time since his Formula One days – and he will be doing so in his home country. The test is scheduled for November 19 at Thermal, California. Currently still a private track, it is scheduled to be on the calendar in 2025.

Sargeant made his Formula One debut with Williams in 2023, but struggled with an uncompetitive car and failed to score points. With no improvement that season, Williams pulled the plug and replaced Sargeant with Franco Colapinto before the Italian Grand Prix.

Before his time in Formula 1, Sargeant was already racing in junior series such as Formula 2 and was considered a promising talent. The upcoming test in the IndyCar series now offers him new opportunities to gain experience in oval and street courses and to pursue a career in the United States.

Although Sargeant comes from Florida, he has not driven much in his home country so far, but moved to Europe at a young age. A switch to IndyCar could be his next goal. He has been linked to it in the past.

In July, Prema Racing revealed that they had spoken to Sargeant about joining the team in 2025. At the time, the American was still focused on his Formula One season, but was already looking at alternative options for the future.
