Everton vs Valencia: Everton Prepare for Premier League Kick-off

Everton has had quite a mixed preseason, starting with a bizarre 22-0 win over Austrian team ATV Irdning in Marco Silva’s first match in charge of the Toffees. They also lost 3-0 to Blackburn, 1-0 to Porto and lost on penalties to Lille, as well as being held to a draw with Bury. If those fixtures are anything to go by then Everton could face another difficult season but preseason form does not always give a true indication of how the season will pan out.

Everton’s new signings set to feature

On Saturday, Everton welcome Valencia at Goodison Park as they prepare to step up their preseason work a week before the Premier League is due to start. Everton’s star signing Richarlison should be lining up at his new home ground with his new teammates. Their fans will be excited of the prospect of seeing him play alongside the other signings they made last season like Gylfi Sigurdsson and Theo Walcott. Everton also made the signing of Lucas Digne from Barcelona this week, who could turn out to be a shrewd signing from Silva.

Everton will be hoping that they can keep hold of Jordan Pickford amid interest from Chelsea, which will be critical to a good Premier League campaign for them. The match against Valencia will not only give the players a good run out a week before the season starts, it will also give fans some insight on Silva’s plans for the team’s formation and his preferred line-up. A lot could still happen in the transfer market before deadline day but it looks like Everton have got most of their business done already.

Valencia team news

Valencia does not start their La Liga campaign until 20th August when they play Atletico Madrid. They have added Geoffrey Kondogbia, Mouctar Diakhaby, Cristiano Piccini, Daniel Wass and Uros Racic to their squad, who could all play some part in the game.
