“Even more responsibility”: Olinde extends in Berlin

Some key players are leaving, but national player Louis Olinde will stay with Alba Berlin.

Olinde has extended his contract with Alba by three years until 2026. The eleven-time champions made the announcement on Wednesday. The 25-year-old had moved to the capital from Brose Bamberg in 2020 and has since won two championships and a cup victory with the club.

The forward, son of Bundesliga legend Wilbert Olinde, is currently preparing for the World Cup (25 August to 10 September) with the national team in Bonn. Olinde most recently played for the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Summer League.

“Development underlined with great performances “

“Louis has improved tremendously in his three seasons with us and underlined his development with great performances last season,” said Alba sport director Himar Ojeda: “I’m sure he will become an even bigger performer and take on even more responsibility in the future.”

In general, Alba is experiencing a major upheaval before the start of the 2023/24 season. Only on Tuesday, centre Ben Lammers had said goodbye. With Tamir Blatt (Tel Aviv), Maodo Lo (Olimpia Milan), Luke Sikma (Olympikos Piraeus), Jaleen Smith (Virtus Bologna) and Yovel Zoosman (Hapoel Jerusalem), other top performers moved on this summer.

Alba, like Bayern Munich, will again start in the Euroleague with a wild card. The BBL season begins at the end of September away in Heidelberg.
