The three Euroleague players Maodo Lo, Johannes Thiemann and Andreas Obst have arrived at the national team.
The German Basketball Federation (DBB) posted a tweet on Saturday showing the trio wearing national team training shirts on the floor. In Friday’s 71-67 win over Israel in Tel Aviv, Lo, Thiemann (both Alba Berlin) as well as Obst (FC Bayern München) had not been able to be present due to playing dates in the Euroleague. This also applied to the first window of the World Cup qualification in November.
On Monday (19.30/Magenta Sport), it’s back against Israel in Heidelberg, this time with the trio. Germany are on course for the 2023 World Cup, which will be held in Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines, with two wins from three matches. Besides Israel, Poland and Estonia are also opponents for national coach Gordon Herbert’s team in the first phase of the qualifiers.
