Esports World Cup: Saudi Arabia grants special visas

The Esports World Cup with various virtual disciplines will be held in Riyadh until August 25. There will be simplified entry for participants and visitors

Over eight weeks, the Esports World Cup (EWC) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, will determine world champions in several eSports titles. The Saudi Tourism Authority (STA) wants to simplify the visa process for both participants and visitors.

According to the official announcement, anyone holding a ticket for the EWC can apply for a visa for a single entry and a stay of up to 90 days via an online portal. All that is required is “to fill out a form, attach the required documents, enter the ticket number and pay the fee of 91.50 US dollars”. This is the equivalent of just under 84 euros.

Leipzig star takes part in FC 24 tournament

In addition to Rocket League, League of Legends and other titles, an unofficial world championship will also be held in EA SPORTS FC 24. The Dane Anders Vejrgang from RB Leipzig has qualified for this – a German is not taking part.

More than 60 million US dollars will be awarded to the best players across all competitions – the winner of FC 24 alone will receive one million. Despite – or perhaps because of – the high prize money, the tournament is criticized for eSportswashing.
